Recipe: Grasshopper Pie Trifle with Cream de Menthe Whipped Cream

This is one of my all time favorite pies that my mom makes. Not sure if this is the exact recipe she uses, but it still came out pretty yummy! I decided to make it into little desserts instead of a large pie to make it easier to serve.


  • 1 or 2 sleeves of Oreos
  • 2 jars marshmallow creme
  • 1/4 cup creme de menthe liquor (or a little more if you want a stronger mint flavor)
  • 2 cups whipping cream
  • Mint candies


  1. Crush cookies
  2. Whip marshmallow creme and creme de menthe until smooth
  3. In a separate bowl (I like to use a chilled metal bowl), whip cream (you can add a teaspoon or so of creme de menthe do add more flavor) until soft peaks form
  4. Fold in whipped cream into marshmallow mixture
  5. Layer cookie crumbs in the bottom of the glass, then top with marshmallow mixture (depending on the size of the glass, you can do multiple layers. My glasses were tiny so I only did one layer of each)
  6. Freeze for at least two hours until firm
  7. Remove from freezer about 30 minutes before serving to let soften
  8. Top with a bit of cookie crumbs and mint candy
