Sunday Confessions: 5-1-15

The United States of Becky
I confess: I'm really concerned that my projects for my party next week might end up Pinterest fails. Please no.

I confess: I'm so thankful my husband has been taking a more active role in the party planning and prepping, takes such a load off my plate!

I confess: Why did I decide to do such a tedious favor when we have so many people (allegedly) coming? My crafts are suppose to be stupid easy. Well. It is... just lots of steps. PEOPLE BETTER COME.

I confess: Sorry my post is just about my Cinco de Mayo party (which my husband is calling Cinco de  Cuatro: an Arrested Development joke), it's the only thing on my mind right now. Aside from how much my leg itches. Did I mention I got bit some more? I think by a mosquito. Or horde of mosquitoes. But also more fleas. It's been great. I have EIGHTEEN BITES on just my left leg. A few bites on my belly and side.. NEIL HAS NONE. FU GUY. And yet, I have found ZERO fleas on the cats! Only me! Ugh.

  1. Oh, I am sorry you are the genetic loser in your house with the bug bites! My grandpa's dog always had fleas and they used to east me alive, horrible little suckers. Now I have a nice Celt with pure tasty blood to keep the bugs distracted! ;-) In America anyway, bugs aren't bad here except for "midges" which are like fruit flies that swarm and bite you but they are localized to the Highlands and I've been safe so far! Someday I aim to at least try a Pinterest fancy food/craft thing but I do fear it would end in a fail! Maybe if your crafts seem overwhelming cut a few out/do something easy instead? I don't think I've ever heard of a Cinquo De Mayo party but I never lived in California, I have no idea what you would do, Mexican food?

    1. Ha, what, no Cinco de Mayo party??? Sometimes I forget that some things are still regional! It's totally not a thing in Mexico (party time in Mexico is December, usually most people take that month off here to go there to join all the celebrations), much like St. Patrick's for Ireland, but it is a BIG DEAL here, especially in San Jose (and maybe LA? not sure). Though I think San Jose keeps trying NOT to have any celebrations downtown because it usually turns into a drunken riot with overturned cars and such.

East side San Jose is usually a traffic jam with every one cruising with their tricked out classic cars, at school you usually make confetti eggs and smash them on peoples heads, at home its lots of drinking... and drinking ;) I will take lots of photos of my party!

  2. I'm Irish and Dennis is Mexican so we joke that we should just have an entire season of drunken celebrations and call it St. Patrick's de Mayo. Our livers may object, but whatever. I'm sure your party will be great - I totally understand pre-party anxiety! Just serve plenty of tequila and everything will be fine!!!

    1. I'm hoping people will be in a drinking mood, then most things won't get noticed :) I'm just having a few people over that I haven't entertained before so that makes me feel a little bit more anxious.

  3. Oh man, being the one with the attractive blood that bugs love sucks monkey ass! I am so sorry! Eighteen bites just one one leg? WTF? Is this some sort of bug uprising the termites have organized in retribution for their beloved tree?

People are going to come to this party and it is going to be awesome as hell.

    1. I'm thinking all the bites are not from fleas because weirdly, only ONE LEG has bites (plus my belly), so I'm thinking something is crawling onto the bed (I sleep on the left side of the bed) and feasting on me and leaving. So I've been sleeping with super tight leggings and long socks over that and so far no new bites. This weekend everything gets vacuumed and inspected! Unless it's under the bed then I don't know. I can't fit under there.

    2. Weird, and in some ways good, because you've officially pretty much narrowed it down to the beddish area. Then again, a bit creepy because if that's the case, you've officially got a sort of ghost bug monster living inside of your mattress.

    3. You should start sleeping in a biohazard suit. ;)
